TV Series I Watch

// June 11th, 2010 // Reviews, TV Series

I don’t usually watch TV, actually I don’t really at all but if I get a TV series on a box set and like it then I will end up watching it all. Here is a list of TV series I really love and then a few others that I gave up on or don’t care to see more of (however you want to put it). All summaries were taken from the IMDb website.

Top Favorite Series so far.

House
Summary: The series follows the life of anti-social, pain killer addict, witty and arrogant medical doctor Gregory House with only half a muscle in his right leg. He and his team of medical doctors try to cure very ill ordinary people in the United States of America.
Comments: I heard about this series a long time ago but kept putting it off. I don’t know, the title made me scared of it. I had no idea what it was about. It wasn’t until I was out of town for a convention did the series come to my interest. I was really tired and needed a break in my hotel room so I flicked on the TV and they had a House marathon going on. I got interested quickly even though I didn’t really understand anything that was going on. I knew that I needed to see this series from the very beginning so I rented the first few DVDs and then ended up buying the first and second season. This should keep me busy for my down time after work is over and I’m to tired to do anything else for a while. I really love the sense of humor the main character has, it reminds me a lot of my family only we probably aren’t nearly as smart, haha. I’m also really into the medical stuff because I’m surrounded by nurses in my family.

Supernatural
Summary: When Sam and Dean Winchester were just kids, their mother was horribly murdered in front of their father by something “supernatural”. Their lives were never the same again. After their mother’s murder, their father took an interest in the supernatural and the unexplained and raised the boys as warriors with skills to fight back against the unknown and protect the innocent. 22 years later, with Sam and Dean grown up, their father suddenly disappears on a suppose routine supernatural hunt. Sam and Dean search for their father and along the way help anyone with a supernatural problem with the help from their dad’s journal that contains most of his knowledge about the supernatural that he had accumulated over his 22 years of none-stop obsessive hunting.
Comments: A friend of mine told me about this series. It was funny because my sister and I had actually seen a really weird episode of it, by chance, when we were bored and wondered what it was. I find it ironic that the one we saw had nothing to do with the plot and made the show seem really stupid but yet interesting. It was an episode from the 4th season with the big teddy bear that tries to off himself. Anyway, we got hooked on this series right away. I don’t even think we even bothered to rent it, just bought it and loved it instantly. I’m really into the supernatural thing and these two hot actors make it ten times better. How can you not like a show about two hot brother traveling around the world together to kill monsters?

The Closer
Summary: Deputy Police Chief Brenda Johnson (Sedgwick) runs the Priority Homicide Division of the LAPD with an unorthodox style. Her innate ability to read people and obtain confessions helps her and her team solve the city’s toughest, most sensitive cases.

Comments: The only cop show that I will watch and absolutely love. Brenda just makes the show and so does all her co-workers. They have a great chemistry. To tell you the truth, I’m not really sure how we got started on this series. We might have actually caught the first episode on TV and decided we liked it. This show has plenty of comedy and seriousness all mixed together at such good levels. I can’t get tired of it. Plus the mysteries on who killed the people is always a fun thing to try and figure out.

True Blood
Summary: he series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people’s minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill, walks into her place of employment two years after vampires ‘came out of the coffin’ on national television.
Comments: Yes, I had to watch a vampire series. This is so much better than Twilight. I even plan to read the books which I heard are a lot different but really good. This series is very… naughty. Lots of blood and sex in it, but you can’t expect much less from an HBO series now can you? I really like how non-pretty this series gets even though there are some scenes that even make my eyes bug out. I hope this series can keep me interested without making the characters too annoying for me. I’m actually more of an Eric fan than I am of Bill. Oh no, not one of those Edward Vs Jacob things. No, there is another guy I would rather her with as well who isn’t like them, plus it is a vampire against a vampire not a vampire against a wolf. XD

Firefly
Summary: In the far-distant future, Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds is a renegade former brown-coat sergeant, now turned smuggler & rogue, who is the commander of a small spacecraft, with a loyal hand-picked crew made up of the first mate, Zoe Warren; the pilot Hoban “Wash” Washburn; the gung-ho grunt Jayne Cobb; the engineer Kaylee Frye; the fugitives Dr. Simon Tam and his psychic sister River. Together, they travel the far reaches of space in search of food, money, and anything to live on.
Comments: Very short series, which made me really sad but at least there is a movie. Anyway, I really loved this series. I saw the movie first though, which is fine and all but it is much better if you have seen the TV series first. All the character have such great chemistry together and there is a lot of humor. It’s just to bad the series got dropped right when it was really getting heated. I suggest you still watch it though, along with the movie. They wrap it up to a certain degree with the movie.

Series I watched most of the episodes of.

Scrubs
Pure crack, you really have to watch this when you are in a silly mood and don’t want something to be serious. It’s actually a slapstick kind of series that I can actually laugh at and enjoy. The characters are all awesome and J.D. really makes it with his imagination. I have watched a lot of the episodes of this series but not really in order. There really isn’t any need for it though. The series is still going on but they got a new lead, it’s not bad but I’m not that into the series to keep it up.

Desperate Housewives
The first season is my favorite of course, I really enjoyed it up to season three and then I got a little tired of it. I felt like it was turning into some crazy soap opera. LOL Still, I have fond memories of watching the show, even my grandmother likes to watch it, haha!

Sex and the City
One of my mothers favorites. I’m not that into it but I have seen almost all of it because I bought her this fancy box set for a mother’s day gift. I can’t really say more much about it because I might just end up going off about all the things I hate about it. *falls over* I don’t really hate it though, I just don’t love it.

Series I Gave Up On but loved at first.

Lost
Oh. My. God. They should have ended this series a lot sooner or at least explained a little more after each season. I got so sick and tired of this series. I hated all the characters except for a few and those they kept killing off so I gave up hope. I really wanted Kate and Jack to die, because they were the most annoying though the Australian guy sucked really bad (boring as fuck) and he was still around. What?! ARG! I’m glad it finally ended but I cannot force myself to complete it. Blah!

Heroes
I want to sale this back to the store. I loved the first two seasons then I started to get bored. I tried to watch the most recent season of it and got bored. I just couldn’t finish it at all. It is still sitting in my cabinet just waiting to be watched but I would rather stare at a wall then watch it. *falls over* The characters just never grow and I hate TV shows like though. Cough Cough Lost Cough Cough

Dead Zone
Eh, this series isn’t bad but it is kind of slow moving and not all that exciting. Some of the episodes would be really good but most of them were only so-so. I’m surprised it made it to seven seasons before it was canceled. I have only watched the first season.

Firefly for the WIN!! I am a huge fan of the show and movie and of Joss Whedon! I always find it sad when I think about how the show got canceled so soon. But then I remind myself that FOX is stupid and canceled most of their would’ve-been-great shows.

Dead Zone and Heroes… eh, my opinions are the same as yours. I didn’t get pass the season 3 episode 1 of Heroes and Dead Zone, well, the pilot was alright.

I love crime shows. I watch Bones, CSI (all of them) and Castle (which I highly recommend <3).

I dumped Desperate Housewives and LOST, never got around to watch House (though I want to) and Firefly (because it's the same dude in Castle).

Scrubs<3 I need to get around to watch the two latest seasons.

I watched ONE episode of Sex in the City and was so embarrassed, lol.

I've been hearing about two new teen dramas, Pretty Little Liars and My Secret Teenage Life, but I don't want the latter to be a new Big Love. :(

I have watched the first season of Castle. My sister really likes the series and so does a friend of mine. I think it is cute but I’m not that crazy about it, at least not yet. xD I love that actor though. <3

I’m too scared to try and watch any teen dramas. Pretty Little Liars sounds like it could be halfway interesting but when I listen to the bad script writing my skin crawls.

House! It really is everywhere! My dad is a huge fan, though I’ve yet to watch the entire show. I’ll watch a few episodes here and there. House marathon days are always a big deal in my household. XD

I watched one episode of True Blood, and yes, way more better than Twilight. Unfortunately I was really lost with it since I caught it in the middle of the season, so no more of that until I can find the first season. When I had Showtime, I was a huge fan of the Tudors which is probably just as naughty.

And oh noes! You stopped watching LOST? I’m such a fan of that show. I don’t know, I loved the mystery and intrigue and for me at least, the characters were so lovable. It made me cry so much, but I just couldn’t stop watching it. I still can’t get over the ending; I loved it to bits.

House is such a fun series. It is giving me plenty to do on my lazy time. XD

True Blood is very dirty. LOL I love it but I can’t wait to read the original books cause I heard those are much better. HBO had to make it fit more for a romance between Bill and Sookie and the books don’t do that.

I couldn’t sit through lost. The characters annoyed me too much and the ones that didn’t got killed off.

I LOVE HOUSE, it’s one of my top favourite series as well. I love it!

Supernatural and True Blood is one to to watch list. I’m currently reading Twilight. It is REALLY good. I’ve been told that the movie is nothing compared to the book. I haven’t seen the movie yet. I’m going to be watching it this weekend. Maybe you should give the book a try.

I stopped watching Lost & Heroes after a while too because it just got really pointless. They were good series at the beginning.

    • Ongaku says:

      House roxs! lol

I hate Twilight, sorry. I don’t think that author can write and I wish she would pick a new career. (gets shot) I have tried some of her other stuff and hated it just as much.

I love House. XD It’s sad that I can’t watch the last episode of the sixth season because everything is blocked in China. D; I’ve also watched The Closer, but I’m a big Law and Order fan. I vaguely remember the Dead Zone. It’s somewhere in the same category as Heroes and The 4400 for me. Interesting plot, but it didn’t take off as quickly, or as well, as I thought it would.

That sucks how everything is blocked in China! I wonder how my friend is doing there then. LOL

I have never watched Law and Order, so many people like it but I can’t give it a try yet… I guess I really should someday.

I remember 4400! I saw the very first episode when I was visiting my Dad’s side of the family. I watched the first season but then just stopped. I like the opening song though haha
