Skin Care 2

// February 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // Informative, Meme

You might remember this old post I wrote a long time ago about Skin Care. I wrote it after my first visit with the dermatologist. If you don’t remember you can still see the post ‘Skin Care‘. This is a follow up post. I do a lot of the same things but there are some slight differences.

I still try to wear Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, that has an SPF of AT LEAST 30 and UVA protection. Even though I don’t go outside much, just being in the car with the sun on me is enough. Plus, if it cloudy you are still getting a lot of sun, you just don’t feel it. I wear the sunscreen on my face not to keep from burning but to keep my acne from having permanent spots on my face. Plus, this works as a good moisturizer since I tend to get dry skin easily with washing it everyday.

I still use Cetaphil products to wash my body and face, however, I also use Neutrogena’s body wash only because I have a really bad time with the acne on my back from food allergies and stuff. I really love the Cetaphil products. I like the bottles soap and I adore the bar soap. It leaves me feeling super clean and soft.

I still use non-comedogenic makeup, which just means it doesn’t clog pores. I wear a Neutrogena brand called Neutrogena SkinClearing oil-free compact foundation. I put a little bit of that one, careful not to put a lot underneath my eyes.

On other days, when I feel like using a little bit more makeup, I wear Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup, which is a liquid foundation. It cost more too but it is worth it to keep from having acne.

Cold Vs. Flu

// November 12th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Informative, Rants

I really get irritated when people tell me they have the flu yet they are sitting on the computer or on the sofa. I also roll my eyes when people say the would take their chances with the flu than take a shot.

These type of people just don’t understand how painful and serious the flu can be and they mistake having a common cold for the flu.

I’ll tell you right now, if you have the flu, you are not getting out of bed.

Here is a chart I found from Tamiflu website.

Symptom Cold Flu
Fever Fever is rare with a cold. Fever is usually present with the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temperature of 100°F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu.
Coughing A hacking, productive (mucus- producing) cough is often present with a cold. A non-productive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to as dry cough).
Aches Slight body aches and pains can be part of a cold. Severe aches and pains are common with the flu.
Stuffy Nose Stuffy nose is commonly present with a cold and typically resolves spontaneously within a week. Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu.
Chills Chills are uncommon with a cold. 60% of people who have the flu experience chills.
Tiredness Tiredness is fairly mild with a cold. Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu.
Sneezing Sneezing is commonly present with a cold. Sneezing is not common with the flu.
Sudden Symptoms Cold symptoms tend to develop over a few days. The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains.
Headache A headache is fairly uncommon with a cold. A headache is very common with the flu, present in 80% of flu cases.
Sore Throat Sore throat is commonly present with a cold. Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu.
Chest Discomfort Chest discomfort is mild to moderate with a cold. Chest discomfort is often severe with the flu.

I had the flu once. Never again. I never want to go through that EVER again. It was bad because I had just gotten over a stomach bug, which caused my immunity to go down. I got the flu not much later and had a hard time with it. I was stuck in bed for 7 days straight, throwing up, getting high fevers, waking up with sweat only to pass out again with drugs to help reduce my fever. I hardly moved while I was in the bed too and started to get sore spots on my bottom and back. I couldn’t take any of the flu medication because it hurt my weak stomach. The flu is hell.

I’m not saying a cold is something to laugh about, but it just isn’t the flu.

Oh yeah, and Hay Fever is not a cold either. You sneeze once doesn’t mean you are coming down sick. Stupid anime shows! LOL

Hollywood + Anime = ?!

// March 30th, 2009 // 11 Comments » // AniManga, Anime, Fandom, Informative, Movies, Rants, Reviews

I decided that the combined website I was planning to do with my sister will not ever be complete. There are good reasons for this but the biggest one of all is the fact that I can’t ever get my sister to do something even when she said she wanted to. Sigh. LOL

So, I’m going to start posting some of the rants on my personal blog here that I had planned for Rantisim.

Hollywood is going anime! This is exciting and scary at the same time. How will all these anime titles handle being made into live action movies for the main stream masses? We won’t truly know until a good number of planned movies actually make it to the big screen.

My personal opinion on this matter is, go for it Hollywood, just don’t botch it up too bad. I would love to see my favorite shows come to life with real people. I’m not going to be hoping for them to be exactly the same though. If they can’t even make movies from books right I don’t have that much hope for anime. It is a plus that a lot of these directors and such happen to be fans, themselves, of the series so they are doing their best to keep them to the original works. I’m just going to try and like them for what they are in the long run.

So far there has been Speed Racer, a movie I have yet to see even though it has one of my favorite Korean Artists in it, and Transformers, which turned out to be a lot more fun to watch than I expected.

But there is a list of anime titles that are in the making of becoming a live action movie such as…

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Akira
Ghost in a Shell
Dragon Ball
Ninja Scroll

This list just keeps growing. I remember when it was just Neon Genesis Evangelion. Sadly, that one is taking the longest to get any work done.

The Dragon Ball movie is coming out pretty soon. I’m not a huge Dragon Ball fan but I think I will have to see it, just because. I’m a little bit afraid of the guy they got to play Goku because I thought his acting was weak so far, but it might have just been the movie I saw him in that wasn’t good. I can’t decide if I will watch this one in theatre or wait for it to come out to rent. I guess it depends on my mood and what kind of time I have.

Fox (film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly)) is picking up the Cowboy Bebop movies, and it is rumored that Keanu Reeves is going to play Spike, especially since they said he will be getting a lead role. I’m iffy on that, I guess the choice could be a whole lot worse though. I just hope he doesn’t make Spike boring, cause that would be a real shame. A lot of people see Spike as being unemotional, but I see him as being a bit of a goof. Is that strange of me?

The good thing is that they intend to remain faithful to the original as much as possible. They will even be working with some of the original creators such as Sunrise President Kenji Uchida, and original Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe.  For more information about it, check out Anime News Network.

Akira is another one that is coming to the big screen pretty soon. It is aiming to have it’s first release by the summer of 2009. Warner Bros has decided to split this movie up into two separate ones and will have it follow the manga more than the original anime movie. And yes, it is going to be done by the production company owned by Leonardo Dicaprio. Who would have thought he was an otaku? heh.

Besides, Akira, it is said he has gotten the rights to making a live action for Ninja Scroll. So far there is not more to be said about it. I think we should see how Ninja Assassin does before they try this ultra gory anime.

Ghost in a Shell is going to be taken on by Steven Speilberg, being a fan of the anime,  and dreamworks. Most complaints is the fear of it being dumbed down for the masses, but that is to be expected. I fear that a lot more for Neon Genesis Evangelion.

And last, but not least, the Neon Genesis Evangelion movie. This live action movie has been talked about since 2004 and was originally slated to be out by 2007, but it is now unknown as to when it will ever come out. However, it is still being worked on and has even started the very basics of production. Unfortunalty they have been keeping  secret about a lot of it, such as the director in choice and so on so forth. Weta Workshop will be working on the CG for this movie, which is a good sign. From what I can see, the sketches seem promising. It is good that they are keeping them with a more organic feel than a robotic one, since the Evas or more monsters than machine. To keep up with the most recent info on this production of this movie, it is best to check out Live Action Evangelion.

So what do you think? Scared? Excited? Both?  Also, what would you like to see next on this list?
